The six-member City Council consists of a Mayor and five Council Members. The government and general management of the city is vested in the City Council which establishes policy for the city, appoints the city manager and attorney, adopts ordinances, including zoning and sets tax rates, calls for bond referendums and establishes annual budgets. The Mayor and Council Members are elected at-large in non-partisan elections for staggered four-year terms. Learn more about the City of Conover at http://www.conovernc.gov/

My extensive business career in the Information Technology field on a global basis. I'm currently on the Conover Planning Board and I'm an alumni of Leadership NC. Additionally, a graduate of NCHS in 1979 and Appalachian State in 1983.
• Support our local merchants and keep our downtown vibrant and growing.
• Promote public-private partnerships to build facilities that attract new industries.
• Improve neighborhoods through continued street paving, new sidewalks, and upgrades to water/sewer systems including code enforcement of existing ordinances.
Together, we can ensure our city grows stronger while preserving what makes it special.
I’m running for city council to lead with transparency, strengthen our economy, and put our community first focusing on the future while honoring our past. I will continue working with our mayor, council, and city staff to maintain our low tax rate, deliver quality services through smart investments, and encourage new economic growth while protecting our existing businesses.
I'll work with our residents to increase use of our downtown area for events and investigate an annual event to create additional and ongoing momentum for growth.

Being recently retired, I now have the time to fully commit to this important position. Formerly a downtown Conover business owner, I recognize the issues that other Conover business owners face daily. Conover will grow, and I want to see Council be proactive about our growth vs reactive after the fact (which is more expensive). I am passionate about growing Conover slowly and with full transparency.
1. Being able to plan more family friendly events in downtown and the park.
2.Trying to build a dog park within the city limits (existing park area).
3. Tackling the issue of speeding and reckless driving through our streets. Making it safer to walk around our city.
1. Working with the City, Conover non-profits, businesses and sponsors to organize, support, and promote events.
2. By evaluating properties already owned by the city for best locations for a dark park. Organize a panel of citizens, city officials and city employees together to determine if this would be possible.
3. Allowing our officers the tools to be more proactive regarding speeding and red lights violations.
I would like to see Conover become more of a destination than a place to to drive through to get to a different destination.
