SUPPLEMENTAL LEVY ELECTIONJOINT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 272, KOOTENAI AND BONNER COUNTIES, STATE OF IDAHO, MAY 20, 2025The Board of Trustees of Joint School District No. 272, Kootenai and Bonner Counties, State of Idaho, is seeking authorization to levy a Supplemental Levy for the following purposes and approximate amount of levy funds to be allocated to each use:Purpose AmountCo-curricular and Atletics Activities Co-curricular - Maintain existing High School co-curricular activities including advisors, state dues, and state travel expenses for programs like Band, Choir, FFA, FCCLA, Skills USA, BPA, etc. Amount = $2,000,000Athletics - Maintain existing High School and Middle School athletic activities programs including coaches, officials, safety equipment, Athletic Trainers, uniforms, league travel for games, state travel expenses, Activities Directors, etc. Support Safety and Security Program - Safety Personnel (School Resource Officers and Armed District Safety Specialists) and Program Expenses (Ammo, Supplies, Professional Development, etc.) Amount = $827,789Transportation - Cost to District after State support Amount = $500,000Maintain Student Access to KTEC Amount = $348,000Funding for 25 Teachers Positions - Support low classroom size target & high school graduation requirements Amount = $1,997,198Maintain Advanced Learning Program at Elementary Schools Amount = $546,797Maintain 8 Certified Elementary Specialists - Music, PE, and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) Programs Amount = $613,730Maintain 10 Library Personnel - Personnel is responsible for operating the library program at each school Amount = $434,106Maintain Current Nursing Program - Retain 2 certified personnel to support the Nursing Program at District Schools Amount = $172,150Maintain Alternative Middle School Program - Retain certified personnel to support the Alternative Middle School Program at Mountain View Alternative School Amount = $80,230TOTAL $7,520,000QUESTION: Shall the Board of Trustees of Joint School District No. 272, Kootenai and Bonner Counties, State of Idaho, be authorized and empowered to levy a Supplemental Levy in the Amount of Seven Million Five Hundred Twenty Thousand Dollars ($7,520,000) per year for two (2) years, commencing with the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2025 and ending June 30, 2027, for the purposes stated above; all as provided in the Resolution adopted by the Board of Trustees on February 19, 2025?The estimated average annual cost to the taxpayer on the proposed levy is a tax of $82.37 per $100,000 of taxable assessed value, per year, based on current conditions.
