It goes many years back. Bryce Millar was my fathers good friend. Wanting to run before, I decided I would not run against this great man. When Bryce announced retirement from being Commissioner, two different individuals of the Highway District thought I should run. After prayer and much thought I believe I should run with that same integrity and honesty in office that I have watched in Bryce Millar all these years. I strongly believe in a balanced budget that does not put the burden on the constituents of the district. I will be a servant of all of the people of the district. The ladies and gentlemen of the Nampa Highway District also deserve someone who will stand up for them in their loyalty to same district. I will be that person.
I have been in business leadership for over 30 years, always having to balance and achieve budgets. I have also done purchasing and marketing during that time with multi-million dollar budgets. I am not afraid to consult with people to obtain input that is necessary for good decision making. In all that time through my working career I have always known you must work for the people you serve and also provide for the employees who are your greatest asset. I am an independent thinker and will listen to all sides before making my decision. I am a Navy veteran and also a Native of Nampa. I care deeply for Canyon county and Idaho with its heritage and values.
Safety has to be the greatest priority; safety for the constituents in great roads, bridges, roundabouts, overpasses, and signage. Safety for the employees is just as important. At the end of the day we all want to go home to our loved ones. Secondly, I would like to say that the Nampa Highway District #1 has some of the best roads and maintenance in Idaho, and they have always looked out for the future so they can build the system when they need or can get it built, along with having the money available to pay for it. I will work toward that, keeping from having to raise funding or to catch up which is common in other highway districts. I will plan with other Commissioners for future highway needs, projects, and budgets.
I am a Navy veteran and a Nampa native. I care about this state and its people. I want the voters to know I will serve all the constituents of the Nampa Highway District (NHD). I will also keep taxes down by working inside of budgets to accomplish the same high quality. I will protect the employees of the NHD as they are the greatest asset. I demand high values in my own life and will also demand that for the NHD. I am the only NHD candidate that has full endorsement by two sitting commissioners, Bryce Millar and Dick Smith, two previous NHD Commissioners, Ralph Gant and Richard Farner. I am also endorsed by Dave Ferdinand, former Canyon County Commissioner and Ron Crane, former State of Idaho Treasurer, who know my character and abilities.

I was born and raised in the Treasure Valley. I have been a Nampa homeowner for almost 10 years now.  I would like to serve and be a steward for my community.  I would like the opportunity to do my part today so everyone can have a better tomorrow.
I graduated from The University of Idaho with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in landscape architecture. I have worked in the valley for 10 years at a multi-disciplinary design firm, with landscape architects, civil engineers, and land surveyors.  I hold professional landscape architect licenses (PLA) in 3 states: Idaho, Nevada, and Montana. My professional code of ethics guides my actions.  Many might associate landscape architecture with landscape plant material design. As a licensed landscape architect, my scope of practice includes grading and storm water drainage, reclamation planning, conditional use applications, long-range planning, preliminary survey plats, site design, cost-estimating, budgeting, and construction administration.
I advocate for safety measures, Including: pedestrian safety interfaces at roundabouts, and red flashing indicators at all 4-way and 2-way stop signs for improved visual awareness. I support the use of in-house resources for design and construction. This is an efficient and effective way to maximize the investment of our taxpayer funds. For example, the district staff has been designing and constructing some roundabouts. That is a practice I support being continued.  As our community grows, our road improvements and infrastructure must be ahead of growth. Long-range planning assistance is the best method for sustaining our road infrastructure for the future.
My wife and I have chosen to raise our family here. I want to play a positive role in my community. My family – parents and grandparents – set an example of public service. I want to continue that legacy in a way I feel my skills and talents are best applied.
