I worked for The Nampa Highway District #1 for 34 years. As I approached retirement age, many patrons asked me if I would be interested in running for a commissioner position. I feel like I can represent the district and support the public with their concerns.
I worked in a variety of positions during my 34 years at The Nampa Highway District #1. I worked as a truck driver/ laborer for approximately 5 years then I served as the Right of Way Specialist for 5 years. I was then given the opportunity to be the Assistant Director for 13 years. I spent my last 11 years on the bridge crew. Some of the responsibilities I had during those years included working with staff and the public on new developments, assisting with plan reviews on new sub divisions making sure they met Highway district standards and working with the Director with budget decisions, scheduling construction projects, daily maintenance and collaborating with staff and commissioners.
I would like to help boost staff morale and increase the quality and safety of our roads.
During my years of service with the Highway district, I felt a lot of pride in the work I accomplished. We were often complimented on the quality of our projects. I would like to help build that feeling of pride with the employees of Nampa Highway District #1. I am also interested in continuing to build positive working relationships with the City of Nampa and other districts.

I’ve looked forward to being involved with the organization for many years. I enjoyed the rewards of being a public servant during my time at the Nampa Fire Department and DeerFlat Fire Departments, as a first responder I’ve seen the devastation accidents cause to the community. For 40 years I’ve seen the area grow and our roads become extremely congested. I want to clean up some intersections, find ways to ease the congestion to meet the public's needs.
I’ve crossed the district in automobiles, farm equipment, semis and fire engines. Each with their own different perspective. I have served on boards and appreciate others opinions. My time as a first responder has taught me the importance of being unbiased, following procedure and using common sense.
First off I want to gain the trust of our taxpayers and the departments employees. Secondly clean up problem intersections and look for alternative routes to ease the congestion. Thirdly work with police and other agencies.
We have a great highway district, well maintained roads and a lot to be thankful for but we need to look to the future and work hard to keep it that way.
I will protect your assets and well being. I promise to make un biased decision and keep in mind the burden of taxation that’s put on you. It’s very hard to prove to you my passion for our well being but if you discuss the issues and candidates with others you may very well find some one that know me and can attest to my willingness to help others.
