Stark County Issue 14: Perry Township Road Levy
ISSUE 14 – PERRY TOWNSHIP ROAD LEVYPerry Township Trustees are asking voters to approve a 2.9 mill road levy.If Issue 14 is approved, the five-year levy would generate nearly $2.7 million a year. It would cost the owner of a $100,000 home $102 a year.A 1-mill levy expired in 2024. The road department now relies solely on a 2-mill levy, first passed in 1986, which will expire in 2026. This levy generates $701,830 a year and costs the owner of a $100,000 home $22.16 a year. With the current budget, the township is unable to pave any significant amount of roads, which makes passage of the levy crucial. In 2024, it cost approximately $130,000 to pave one mile of road. Based on 2024 paving costs, Issue 14 would allow the township to pave roughly 20 miles a year. The township is responsible for maintenance and paving of 150 miles of roads. In November, voters rejected replacing the 1 mill levy with a 3.9 mill levy. In March 2024, voters rejected replacing the l mill levy with a 6.8 mill levy.
