Stark County Issue 15: Louisville Public Library Renewal Levy
Renewal, current expenses, 1 mill, 5 years, commencing in 2025.Louisville Public Library is asking Louisville City and Nimishillen Township (Louisville School District) voters to renew for five years a 1 mill property tax levy to support the public library. The tax generates $362,000 each year, which represents one-third of the Library’s operating budget. It was first approved by voters in 2010. If renewed, voters will see no increase in their tax bill for the library.The current operating budget is $1,060,940; non-levy funds come primarily from the State of Ohio library aid fund, supplemented by fees. No funds from this levy will be used to pay for construction of the new building. Voters in the district will not be taxed for the Stark County Library at any time.Other information:1. Money to be used for operating services NOT new construction2. What will happen is the issue fails: •Reduced hours •Less programming/fewer books3. The cost to a homeowner is approximately $19 per $100,0004. Services provided by the library: •New building at no tax cost to residents •Programming for all ages at the library •Mobile services to home bound, nursing homes, and senior centers •Community meeting rooms •Metzger Park accessibility
