For the last 12 years, I have been active in my local community and participating in local government. I have served on boards, committees, focus groups, and other local entities. I have my degree in political science, am serving as Vice Chair of the Kannapolis Board of Adjustments, and have worked constantly to make positive impacts on my communities. This, along with my professional experience in real estate and banking, create a unique set of qualities and experience that make me qualified to serve you on our city council.
There are a hundred reasons I am running, but there are several that stick out. First, affordable housing. In my time in real estate, most of my clients were first time home buyers or retired individuals on fixed incomes. I know their struggle and want to help. We do this by partnering with developers, expanding programs, and diversifying our zoning. Secondly, I support effective strategies to address our growth, especially in areas around infrastructure, public transportation, and public services. I also am focused on economic development, meaning that I am supportive of ways to improve our local businesses while also fighting for our larger employers to positively invest in their own communities and provide stable, long term employment.
For my goals, much of the success is relationship building and partnerships. The city cannot directly set rules on home prices, but we can partner with developers to build affordable housing. We can further pursue grants and other programs that help affordability and emergency repairs. We can also directly impact our growth by setting zoning standards that fall in line with the surrounding neighborhoods. We set expectation with larger companies that are moving here that we expect them to have good jobs available that are going to keep people employed for the long term.
At the end of the day, my experience and passion to improve our city is what has brought me here. Running for office and serving as I have for the last 12 years is not an easy task. Everyone is different, but I know that my calling is to serve and is to help make positive impacts on our communities.
When I am elected, I am going to be an accessible, positive, and transparent voice for you on our city council. I will provide constant updates of city business, I will be active in our local communities, I will introduce myself to everyone I come in contact with, and I will always represent you in a way that I myself would want to be represented.
