Term 4 years
Term Expires 6/30/25
I have served on the Tigard-Tualatin School Board since 2021 and am currently the board chair. Actively involved in the district for over 16 years, I have served multiple leadership roles within the Foundation for Tigard-Tualatin Schools and worked on key district committees focused on the Student Success Act, budget planning, and DEI initiatives. I serve on the Board of Directors of the Oregon School Board Association. A life-long educator, I currently serve as the K-8 Dean of Students at Willamette Connections Academy. I hold a Bachelor's degree in International Studies and Education from the University of Oregon and a Master's in education from Bank Street College of Education in New York.
Between my years on both the Tigard-Tualatin School Board and Oregon School Board Association, I have a clear understanding of compliance relative to state and federal policies.
1. I want to look at our students who are furthest from justice and see how we, as a district, are not creating or implementing mechanisms for improved student learning. Based on our strategic plan, AROI data, and equity audit, where are we still missing the mark? 2. I would like to continue to tackle attendance and if/when/how mental health plays a part in that. What are the barriers that keep students from attending school? What currency can we use (particularly at the secondary level) to get kids in the door, and then how do we ensure that they are seen/heard/valued so that they continue to show up? 3. Continue to build trust and confidence with our union partners, teachers, staff, and community.
