Special districts are empowered to levy any necessary taxes and fees to fulfill their mandate. Town Where You Live Mosier
Your Experience/Qualifications Two years serving on the Mosier Fire District Fire Board; small business owner in Mosier; attorney with 30 years experience in government.
County Wasco
Term 4 years
I have served on the Board for almost two years during a period of significant change: finding a new chief, the struggle to fund a community center and a new fire station, and increasing demand for both medical and fire services. My prior career as an attorney working in government and as a consultant on police integrity, policy and jail management gave me insight into how public safety organizations can best serve their public.
During my time serving on the Mosier Fire District Board, it has become crystal clear that the men and women who volunteer to fight fires and respond to medical emergencies in the District are the soul of the Mosier Fire Department. I view my most important job on the Board as helping to maintain the volunteer corps and make it flourish. The Fire Board will work toward that aim and the safer, stronger community that will result from it. I have worked in and around government for 30 years as a prosecutor and a consultant to public safety agencies. Public trust, community cohesion, and the spirit of volunteerism are foundational and should never be taken for granted.
The Board must evaluate all budget issues, readiness and performance of the Fire Chief and the Department as a whole and create a long term vision for the District.
