The Amherst City Treasurer is responsible for safeguarding public funds, maintaining accurate financial records, disbursing city monies as authorized, and providing regular financial reports to city officials and the public. The Treasurer ensures transparency, accuracy, and accountability in all fiscal matters and collaborates with other departments to support the city’s financial health.
With 23 years of experience as an educator, I bring strong organizational, project management, and communication skills to the table. I’ve spent my career listening, solving problems, and building trust with students, families, and colleagues—skills that directly translate to effective public service. As a long-time Amherst resident, I am deeply committed to our community’s well-being and fiscal integrity. My strengths in time, people, and project management will help ensure the Treasurer’s office runs efficiently and is responsive to both city leadership and the residents we serve.
My first priority will be to review current Treasurer’s office operations to identify strengths and areas for improvement—this will take place in the first six months. Second, I will improve transparency and communication by providing clear, accessible financial updates to residents and City Council, beginning within the first year. Third, I will promote fiscal responsibility by working with city leaders to support smart budgeting and responsible use of public funds. These efforts will continue throughout my term.
