Position/philosophy statement
Since I was elected, we’ve created jobs, strengthened public safety, expanded housing options, and boosted economic development–but there’s still more to do. Together, let’s continue fighting for a better and brighter future for Greensboro.

Having served District 5 since 2017, I bring deep knowledge of our city and a proven ability to deliver results. Greensboro has been my home for 50 years, and I’ve worked closely with residents to address neighborhood concerns, focus on public safety, expand housing options, support job creation, and secure funding for local projects. As a longtime community leader, I understand the importance of maintaining institutional knowledge and collaboration. My background as a CFO and VP of Operations has prepared me to manage complex budgets, oversee major initiatives, and bring people together to get things done effectively and responsibly.
Public Safety: I’m committed to continuing our work on improving public safety by supporting police and fire, building community trust, and ensuring all of our residents feel safe, respected, and protected. And I’m proud to have the endorsement of our police and firefighter unions!
Housing: Everyone deserves a safe, affordable place to live. I’m committed to expanding attainable housing so more people can build their lives and futures in Greensboro. I’m proud of the work we’ve done on Greensboro’s first permanent supportive housing project to help our unhoused neighbors.
Economic Development: We must continue our work to drive high-paying jobs to our area, while still supporting our existing businesses - providing opportunities for all.
As we work towards creating a safer Greensboro, we need to focus on creating partnerships between the city, our first responders, faith communities, and other community-based organizations/leaders. As a city, we need to continue to invest in not just our first responders, but also programs that help our community have the resources they need to thrive. In addition, we need to expand our behavioral health response team, expand the hours of our real-time information center, and invest in community infrastructure that keeps our streets safe (lights, cameras, etc.). We also need to fully staff a traffic unit to address speeding, red light running, and other vehicle-related matters to keep our streets safe.
I’m proud of the progress we’ve made over the past few years. Together, we’re moving toward a brighter, better future for all of Greensboro, but there’s still work to do. I’ve always made it a priority to listen to every voice in the room and make decisions that reflect our whole community. I have deep experience working with residents across the district and a long-term commitment to the people of Greensboro. This diverse, thriving city has been my home for 50 years. My opponent is relatively new to Greensboro. While she served on a town council in Idaho, there is a big difference between serving a total population of approximately 1,600 people, 89% white, versus serving a wonderfully diverse community of 320,000+. I have a proven record of delivering for our community, and I’m excited to keep that going – let’s finish the work we’ve started.
