My 20+ years in business development taught me to navigate complex projects, build consensus among stakeholders, and deliver measurable results. I've successfully attracted over $1 billion in economic development to Greensboro and created thousands of jobs. I serve on multiple nonprofit boards, including our Learn to Swim program with Guilford County Schools so am able to keep a pulse on our community needs and how to deliver opportunity for all Greensboro residents. I understand how to work within budgets, manage timelines, and turn vision into reality—exactly what City Council needs to address Greensboro's challenges effectively.
1. Support Economic Growth: : Streamline permitting processes and reduce bureaucratic barriers that discourage business investment and slow growth. Prepare our current and future workforce for the job opportunities coming to Greensboro. Ensure attainable housing to accommodate growth.

2. Public Safety & Community Programs: Ensure adequate funding for police, fire, and youth programs that provide alternatives to negative influences and strengthen neighborhoods. Update/restore our Community Recreation Centers with modern amenities.

3.Downtown Revitalization + Parks: Create a vibrant, safe downtown district that attracts residents, businesses, and visitors while preserving our historic character. Prioritize places that bring us together.

I bring over five decades of public service in Greensboro, including roles as a City Council member, School Board member, and Chief Judge at the polls. These experiences have given me a strong foundation in policy, fiscal oversight, and community engagement. My skills lie in building consensus, addressing tough challenges with practical solutions, and ensuring all voices are heard. I have a proven record of putting people first and working tirelessly to move our city forward.
1. Equity-Driven Economic Development – Grow Greensboro’s economy by supporting small businesses, attracting investment, and ensuring opportunities reach all communities.

2. Affordable Housing – Expand affordable housing options and revitalize neighborhoods while protecting residents from displacement.

3. Youth & Community Services – Invest in programs that support young people, strengthen families, and build safer, more connected neighborhoods.
I will work to expand Greensboro’s economy by ensuring investment reaches all parts of our city. This means strengthening support for small businesses, especially minority- and women-owned enterprises, creating job training pipelines that prepare residents for today’s workforce, and holding the city accountable for equitable distribution of resources. By aligning city policies with fairness and inclusion, we can grow together and ensure every resident benefits from Greensboro’s progress.

I am a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill. I currently serve as an At-Large member of the Greensboro City Council. I also serve as CEO of the Greensboro Housing Coalition, a non-profit advocating for fair, safe, healthy, and affordable housing.

Previously, I held senior leadership positions with Wells Fargo, AT&T, and Lincoln Financial.

I currently serve on boards to include the CFNC Inc., North Carolina for Community and Justice (NCCJ), the African American Leadership Group of the United Way of Greater Greensboro, FaithAction International, and Preservation Greensboro, Inc. I previously served as Chair of both the Greensboro Planning and Zoning Commission and Board of Adjustment; and as Chair of Communities in Schools of Greater Greensboro.
1. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT - Attract good-paying jobs so residents can make a good living have a better quality of life.

2. PUBLIC SAFETY- Ensure our residents feel, and are, safe, protected, and respected. Residents and businesses will not remain or relocate to community if they do not feel safe at home, at work, or at our establishments.

3. HOUSING – Only when residents have sufficient resources and feel safe in our city, will they want to make Greensboro their home. Currently, we are short over 48,000 housing units for rent and purchase. We need these units to satisfy the demand we have created by attracting so many students and new businesses. Rental and purchase prices will remain high until we increase the supply of housing units.
1. DRIVE to identify, retain, and attract new businesses with good wages to our city. 2. MAKE it easy and efficient to do business with the city. 3. CREATE a small business development office within the city to complement the development already in place for large businesses. 4. ENSURE that current residents have the opportunity for skill development/enhancement via organizations such as GuilfordWorks and NextGen so they can take advantage of the new jobs coming to our city. 5. ENGAGE and activate the recent college graduates with incubator opportunities to better ensure they live, work, and play in Greensboro after graduation. 6. TREAT housing like economic development. Be proactive and intentional in driving growth in housing units.
In 2021, I was appointed to fulfill an unexpired term and then you elected me at the ballot box for the At-Large seat in the July 2022 election. Now, I am running for RE-ELECTION for the same At-Large seat.

I want to continue the incredible momentum we have with over $20 billion in new capital investment, over 23,000 new jobs, and over 1,100 jobs retained. I want to drive new opportunities in economic development, public safety, and housing to improve the quality of ‘LIVE - WORK - PLAY’ for ALL of our residents across the city. We need strategic infrastructure investment in our great city; some areas more than others so we are CITY-STRONG!

To achieve that, we have much more work to do. I bring Council experience to continue the momentum and a passion to drive new successes; we cannot afford complacency. I believe that Greensboro is on the cusp of greatness. I ask for your belief in my vision for Greensboro and your vote. Let’s ‘Go B.I.G.’ and BELIEVE IN GREENSBORO together!
Position/philosophy statement My vision is to build a community where every person can truly thrive. As a strategist and a visionary, I believe that leading with integrity and compassion is the most effective way to create lasting change. The highest form of leadership is service

I bring lived, learned, and applied experience in addressing the conditions that shape quality of life. With over twenty years of experience in healthcare, I have partnered locally and regionally with municipalities, health departments, faith leaders, small businesses, and neighborhood associations, and coalitions to expand healthcare access, strengthen food systems, support workforce development, and improve housing. I also completed the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Culture of Health Leader Fellowship and contributed to national initiatives advancing health equity and economic development.
1.Advancing Housing Opportunities & Sustainable Infrastructure 2.Economic Growth & Opportunity 3.Public Safety & Community Engagement
Healthy & Livable Communities: I'll champion the development of affordable housing near jobs and public transit to create more equitable neighborhoods. This includes ensuring all residents have access to reliable public transit and safe streets for walking and biking, while also making sure neighborhoods have access to essential services like fresh food and healthcare clinics.

A Modern, Resilient Economy: We must build an economy that works for everyone. My plan will focus on fostering small business growth by expanding access to capital and business support, while also preparing our workforce with skills training in high-demand fields such as technology, trades, and healthcare.

Safety & Community Health: I believe public safety is a matter of community health. My plan is to invest in mental health support and youth programs to address the root causes of crime. I will also support our first responders and work to build stronger, more collaborative relationships between residents and law enforcement.
Position/philosophy statement Drawing on my experience as City Manager, presidential appointee for President Obama, and private sector executive, I will bring people together to ensure Greensboro thrives through smart growth, safe communities, and pathways to opportunity.

I bring proven leadership from serving as Greensboro’s City Manager, Administrator of the U.S. General Services Administration under President Obama, and as a nonprofit CEO. In these roles I managed large budgets, complex operations, and diverse teams while delivering results that improved communities. I know how to navigate city systems, build public-private partnerships, and engage residents to solve problems. My experience in housing, infrastructure, and economic development positions me to guide Greensboro through rapid growth while ensuring every neighborhood shares in our success.
1. Smart Growth & Housing: Expanding housing supply across all price points and ensuring infrastructure keeps pace with growth. 2. Safe Communities: Strengthening community trust, supporting first responders, and investing in prevention strategies that keep neighborhoods safe. 3. Good Jobs & Economic Opportunity: Preparing our workforce for new industries, supporting small businesses, and creating career pathways so residents can thrive in Greensboro’s growing economy.
Greensboro is projected to need tens of thousands of new homes in the coming years, so I will work to expand housing of every type and cost level. That means streamlining processes to move quality projects forward, strengthening partnerships with builders and nonprofits, and protecting existing neighborhoods as we grow. I will also push for infrastructure investments—roads, transit, water, and public spaces—that support new development while improving quality of life for current residents. Growth must be managed wisely so every part of Greensboro benefits.
Greensboro is at a turning point. With major employers investing here and thousands of jobs on the way, we must be intentional in how we grow. My commitment is to ensure that growth strengthens every neighborhood, expands housing choices, and creates pathways to good jobs. I bring a track record of leadership—from serving as City Manager of Greensboro to leading a federal agency under President Obama to guiding a local nonprofit—that has prepared me to navigate complex challenges with transparency, collaboration, and results. I am running because I believe Greensboro’s future should be one where every resident feels safe, connected, and able to thrive. I would be honored to earn your vote.
