Your Experience/Qualifications La Pine Rural Fire Protection Board 2021-2025; Retired physician
County Deschutes
Term 4 years
Term Expires 2029
I have served on the La Pine Rural Fire Protection Board since 2021. My experience as a retired physician helps inform the Board on medical issues, as more than 85% of emergency calls in the District are for medical issues.
We must continue to efficiently use our taxpayer dollars, while providing the resources needed to continue offering top-notch emergency services. We need to retain our current fire force and continue to grow our staff to support our growing population. I will work with District administration to ensure that we maximize value for our dollar in our budgeting process, and will continue to lobby for improved reimbursement for our medical services. I will also help to develop long-range policies addressing the risk of wildfire and other threats to the health and welfare of our community.
Our role is for advice and consent to actions and policies proposed by the District's fire chief, who is the chief executive officer. We have a fiduciary responsibility to ensure that taxpayer funds are being used appropriately and efficiently.
