I have been active in Aberdeen government first as Chair of the Aberdeen Parks and Recreation advisory Committee for five years and then as Mayor Pro Tem before being elected as Mayor in 2013. Having been on the Town Council has equipped me with many years of experience as Mayor. I have acquired a wealth of insights and skills in leading the Town and working with Town Council members during my tenure. I have also acquired a working relationship with many of the mayors in Moore County and interact with them on various forums. I am knowledgeable of local government regulations and requirements and constantly strive to stay ahead of changes that impact operations of all Town departments.
1. Maintaining the high quality of services and amenities provided by the Town for all residents and businesses in Aberdeen.
2. Attracting new businesses to Aberdeen and continued revivitalization of the downtown core.
3. Continue to enforce and improve the Unified Development Ordinances to insure orderly growth.
I will work in conjunction with the town council and town manager to find opportunities to enhance all public parks, the public library and other town properties and the walkability of downtown and in neighborhoods. I will continue to support town efforts to secure additional parking in the downtown business district and encourage property owners to participate in the maintenance of historical properties.
My years of experience and my dedication to maintain the history and the orderly growth of Aberdeen makes me the choice for voters to return me to the Mayor's office. I have dedicated my tenure as Mayor to attracting commerical and retail businesses into the historic downtown area and working with local businesses, organizations, and residents to improve beautification in the business areas and historic areas. My contact information is readily available and I respond promptly to all concerns or inquiries from residents. I attend many events such as ribbon cuttings, outdoor events sponsored by the Town, local, county and NC Department of Transportation meetings and I have appeared before the Moore County Commissioners to represent Aberdeen. I worked tireslessly for many years to insure a new elementary school was eventually built in Aberdeen to provide a modern learning center for all children in the Aberdeen school district. Your vote counts.

My candidacy is built on three essential pillars:
Discipline & Fiscal Oversight: As a US Army Veteran and former Planning Board member, I bring rigorous discipline. I'll treat taxpayer dollars like a household budget, championing smart, sustainable growth.
Community Advocacy: My Community Development work proves I unite neighbors, ensuring responsive governance by bringing voices directly to City Hall.
Public Service Network: Thirty years in NC Public Service provides the deep knowledge to maximize state resources for workforce development and economic security.
I offer the discipline, the activist's heart, and the public servant's network—the complete package for Mayor.
My top three priorities, ranked:
Infrastructure & Fiscal Integrity: Proactively fund roads and utilities with a 25-30% budget boost for deferred maintenance. I'll secure state/federal grants to fund this, preventing local tax burden.
Walkways & Connectivity: Accelerate new trails and sidewalks by targeting a 30% increase in capital funding. My advocacy will link our parks, downtown, and neighborhoods, prioritizing safety.
Parks & Recreation: Fully fund and implement the 10-year plan with a 25% budget boost. This ensures our town is the premier Sandhills destination for health and economic appeal.
My top issue is Infrastructure & Fiscal Integrity. I will address it with a three-point strategy:
Zero-Based Budgeting (ZBB): I'll implement ZBB immediately to eliminate waste, generating initial capital without raising taxes.
Aggressive Grant Capture: Using my public service network, I'll create a task force to aggressively pursue every state and federal grant to fund the 25-30% budget boost for deferred maintenance.
Prioritization Matrix: I'll use my Planning Board experience to implement a data-driven matrix, ensuring the most critical road and utility projects are addressed first, guaranteeing strategic spending.
For too long, we have watched while our infrastructure lagged and promises for better walkways, greenways, and recreation went unfulfilled.
The recent storms exposed just how far we have fallen behind neighbors like Southern Pines and Pinehurst.
This is unacceptable. It’s time for Aberdeen to stop following and start leading. I will end the cycle of deferred maintenance and broken promises.
My administration will aggressively fund our future, putting discipline and our 25-30% budget boost goal to work.
We are ushering in a new, progressive era for Aberdeen—one where we catch up, exceed our neighbors, and make Aberdeen the premier Sandhills community it deserves to be.
Out with the old, in with the proactive, financially secure future.
