Position/philosophy statement I believe Mount Holly is best served by people willing to listen to citizens and help with problems. I have served Mount Holly as a councilwoman and as a volunteer and hope to continue to give back to my community.

The last 23 years I have worked as a scientist and used analytical thinking and logic to solve problems on a daily basis. During the last 20 years, I have volunteered for multiple non-profits and committees learning how non-profits and cities can work together to achieve goals. For the past 15 years, I have been a parent which has taught me patience, compassion, and to always keep my sense of humor. During the last 8 years, I have been a supervisor and have learned about hiring, HR, communication, dealing with employee conflict, and how to be direct and honest while still being kind. And during the last 2 terms as a council woman, I have learned how our local government works and how to maintain Mount Holly's positive energy.
1. Rising costs. see answer in next section.

2. Growth. The growth from living next to one of the fastest growing cities in the country can control the city, or the city can try to control the growth to ensure it is positive and beneficial for the community.

3. Economic Development. Ensuring the city is recruiting businesses that will work well with our 'small town charm' while also providing goods and services for our citizens.
Top issue: Rising costs. Everything costs more. We see it at home, at work, and on our tax and water bill. If elected, I will continue to push for a lower tax rate and the lowest water rate that covers the city’s costs to treat water and maintain our water/sewer infrastructure. I believe the best way to keep both tax and water bill rates low is to keep an eye on the budget while also encouraging new businesses and housing to develop to help carry the costs. The costs to the city to continue to provide all the services offered will continue to increase year after year. If we share the costs with new businesses and residents, we can hopefully avoid tax increases.
Also, if elected, I will continue to focus on lowering costs for our most at risk population - our seniors. Constantly rising costs for our seniors on a fixed income can mean that they have trouble with food, tax bills, or water bills. I will work with city staff to continue to investigate legal avenues to help lower some of these expenses.
