Blake Massengill was elected to lead Fuquay-Varina in 2021 and is now seeking his third term. Deeply rooted in the community since childhood, Massengill started his municipal service on the Town Planning Board, later joining the Town Board in 2013 and serving as Mayor Pro Tempore for six years before becoming mayor.

Since taking office, Massengill has prioritized transportation improvements, economic development, public safety, and enhancing Fuquay-Varina’s quality of life. Under Massengill’s leadership, Fuquay-Varina has been recognized as North Carolina’s safest small town in 2023 and 2024. Other notable initiatives include building a new fire station, placing police officers in every school, and strengthening water and sewer systems.
Transportation improvements will continue to be the priority. Since elected, over $64 million has been allocated to upgrade major intersections, widen roads, and optimize traffic signals for safer commutes. Citizens are starting to see the progress, and much more is to come.

Our public safety departments will continue to be a priority to ensure rapid response and a strong presence in our community. The police and fire departments have excellent response ratings, and we must continue to fund positions, training and critical equipment to keep citizens safe.

Blake will continue to advocate for downtown revitalization and a business-friendly environment that foster job creation and economic vitality.
Over the last 4 years, Blake has prioritized infrastructure investments that ease congestion and improve road safety. From securing funding for major road projects to supporting pedestrian and greenway expansion, he’s committed to smart, long-term solutions that keep Fuquay-Varina moving.

Keeping the Sunset Lake Road/Main Street intersection expansion on track for a 2026-start is the #1 transportation priority. Lanes will be added over the Norfolk Southern Railroad to improve traffic flow at one of the most congested intersections.

With most roadways owned by the NC Department of Transportation, continued coordination with NCDOT officials and the General Assembly is key to obtaining approval, grants and financing.
Blake Massengill has the energy, experience and vision to keep Fuquay-Varina thriving. Whether it's at a youth soccer game, town concert, local business, town board meeting or Chamber of Commerce event, there's a great chance you've met Blake. That's because he believes the Mayor should be a big part of the community, approachable and responsive to citizen engagement.

Did you know that 89 percent of Fuquay-Varina residents rated the town an excellent or good place to live in a statistically-valid community survey in 2024? That's 40 percentage points higher than the average national rating of 49 percent. This data shows Fuquay-Varina is on the right track.

Blake has made great progress over the last 4 years. Vote Blake Massengill for Mayor to ensure Fuquay-Varina stays safe, connected, and thriving for families and small businesses alike.
