Under its council-manager form of administration, the citizens of Cary elect a seven-member Town Council, including the Mayor. - Four of the seven Council members are district representatives chosen by voters within each geographic district.- Two council members and the Mayor are elected at-large (town-wide.) Cary elections are held in odd-numbered years. All Council members are elected in non-partisan elections to staggered four-year terms so that voters fill three or four of the seats every two years. The elected Town Council creates a vision for the community by setting the policies, goals, and direction of the government including adopting necessary laws. The Council also appoints three staff members: the Town attorney, the Town clerk and the Town manager.

My unique background in gerontology, sociology, and zoology, combined with my experience as a marketer in cybersecurity, provides a practical, future-focused approach to governance. I am a proven civic leader, having served on the Information Services Advisory Board, as Vice Chair for Cary 150, and completed Cary 101 and FEMA CERT boot camp. At the county and state levels, I chair the All Ages, All Stages workgroup, which developed and is now implementing the Housing Plan for the NC Multi-Sector Plan for Aging. I also volunteer as an advocate for vulnerable children brought into foster care as a Guardian ad Litem.
I am proud to be a member of the NC Coalition on Aging and the League of Women Voters, and a lifetime member of the Sierra Club.
I approach my role on the council with these core values and beliefs:
Safe, Affordable Housing is Critical. Municipal leaders have a responsibility to provide solid, focused support for Workforce and Affordable Housing initiatives. A diverse Cary requires municipal support for citizens at all income levels who are housing-cost burdened.
Cary Should Be a Green Leader. We need fundamental, actionable green and environmental protections, and I will tirelessly advocate for preserving our canopy, reducing heat islands in our built environment, and adopting high-volume green stormwater infrastructure.
Inclusivity Requires Action. I am a champion and an ally for approaches that support my friends and neighbors. I want to ensure that others benefit
Cary faces a housing security and affordability crisis that threatens our economic diversity and is pushing out essential workers and seniors.
What I've Done: I refuse campaign contributions from developers to serve as an impartial bridge-builder and create critical partnerships. Informed by my leadership on the state's NC Multi-Sector Plan for Aging Housing Workgroup, I champion Universal Design and spearheaded Stable Homes Cary to prevent displacement.
What I Will Do: I will continue to work to increase our affordable housing stock by scaling up successful public, private, and nonprofit partnerships. I will prioritize work at the state level to codify changes that will stimulate the building of affordable homes and the incorporation of Un
Supporting our growing population of older adults is a core priority. My goal is to institutionalize equity and dedicated support for seniors as Cary evolves.
My work on the Senior Advisory Board and as chair of the Housing workgroup for the NC Multi-Sector Plan for Aging directly informs my policy decisions. I am committed to making sure our budgeting and policy choices are marked by fiduciary responsibility and a focus on enabling older adults to age in place in Cary.
To strengthen this foundation, I helped create the Program Manager for Seniors and Aging position in the Town Manager's Office. This dedicated role ensures our knowledgeable staff can deliver targeted, vital lifestyle services. I view my role as ensuring that every demographic fully benefits from the town's resources, regardless of their district or political affiliation.
