Position/philosophy statement
As a long-time business owner who went through the rezoning process, I am sensitive to the impact government has on individuals. Now lawmakers in Raleigh want to determine growth decisions in Lewisville. What could go wrong?
Current Occupation
retired dentist
Age (optional)
69
I practiced dentistry on Shallowford Rd for 37 years. I have a background in accounting allowing me to fully participate in the budget process I worked for 10 years as a founding board member of United Health Centers which established primary healthcare in east Winston. I started the Friends of the Lewisville Library which donated over $21,000 for books and materials in the last two years. So I have identified problems and worked with others to find creative solutions with lasting impact.
As a dentist, I talked to literally thousands of people over many years and have a sense of what is important to them about the Lewisville experience. I will take that awareness and knowledge into the Council chambers.
#1 Resist the effort by Rep. Jeff Zenger to pass HB765 which takes authority to control growth and development in municipalities away from elected local officials and allows developers wide latitude to build as they wish.
#2 Protect elected and appointed officials from lawsuits by developers who want to intimidate them to vote for a project nobody wants.
#3 Dive deeply into research on the viability of a town pool. With road and construction projects in progress, Lewisville has some budget obligations in place. Once they are digested, the next project should be a town pool which would benefit every age and demographic. Zenger should return the $1.9 million settlement he received and pay for the pool.
The short answer is "Get Jeff Zenger out of office". That would be a huge relief to municipal officials all over the state, and allow Lewisville government and staff to breathe more easily. Also, is there anything in the Unified Development Ordinance that needs a second look? A lot of voters in House District 74 (western third of Forsyth County) are blindly voting by party disregarding the imminent threat Jeff Zenger represents to their neighborhood and their town. Clemmons voters have a lot at stake in this as well as Lewisville citizens. Seriously, who sues their hometown and then asks for votes for higher office? On what planet does this make sense?
At least 5, and possibly 7, people will be elected for the first time to Lewisville Town Council. That is a huge turnover in institutional knowledge. As Mayor Horn told me, "Whoever is elected is going to have a steep learning curve." It may as well be me. I have the time, the skills, and the long history; so I can get a running start. During this campaign, I have knocked on hundreds of doors and will walk over 24 miles by Election Day. This reflects what I am willing to do for Lewisville.

I’m a concern citizen that wants to serve. I have volunteered for the Democratic Party for the last 20 years campus for every president and we needed candidates for Louisville town council. I’m very familiar with large budgets, having been a project manager for UNC school of the arts for six years..
I am a liberal Democrat with very liberal views.
I want to ensure that the new ordinance that was just passed two months ago is easily amended. The document is 600+ pages and I want to make sure that everyone is treated fairly and with no malice..
I want to continue the good work of previous town councils.
I want to ensure that we provide quantifiable services to the citizens of Lewisville.
Review the 600 page document and recommend changes if needed.
I want to make sure that town Council and elected officials have protections from lawsuits. Jeff Zanger sued the town for $8 million and the town Council settled for just under 2 million because they didn’t want to have lawsuit. against them personally.
