TOWN OF ELON MAYOR
The Town of Elon is governed by the council-manager form of government. The Board of Aldermen consists of six members: a mayor, a mayor pro tem, and four aldermen. The members of the Board of Aldermen are elected at-large in non-partisan elections to serve staggered four-year terms in odd-numbered years. In the Town of Elon, the Mayor does not vote unless there is a tie. The Board meets twice monthly. The Town Council is the governing board of the town and is responsible for the government and general management including: - scheduling regular public meetings, - establishing the budget, - imposing taxes and borrowing funds, establishing local ordinances, land annexations, and - representing the community to other levels of government.
