The City operates under a Council-Manager form of government, with the City Manager being appointed by the Aldermen to carry out policy determined by the Council.The City government consists of the Mayor and six members of the Board of Aldermen.All are elected at-large in non-partisan elections to staggered four-year terms in odd-numbered year elections.Ward-specific Aldermen must reside in the ward that they represent.The Board of Aldermen is the governing board of the City and is responsible for the government and general management including: scheduling regular public meetings, establishing the budget, imposing taxes and borrowing funds, establishing local ordinances, land Annexations, and representing the community to other levels of government.
