CITY OF DURHAM CITY COUNCIL WARD II

The Durham City Council is the legislative and policy-making body for the city. The mission of the city council is to provide quality services to make Durham a great place to live, work and play. City Council has seven members: the Mayor, three Council Members representing specific wards, and three at-large Council Members.Members of the City Council are elected at-large in non-partisan elections to staggered four-year terms. Ward-specific City Council members must reside in the district they represent. The City Council supervises city government and appoints administrative officials, such as the City Manager, City Attorney, and City Clerk. The Council also appoints residents to serve on boards, commissions and committees; passes ordinances; approves the annual budget; and works to address the needs of its citizenry.
