I am qualified for a seat on the Leland Town Council through both my education and professional experience. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and two degrees in Education, which have given me a strong understanding of public policy, leadership, and community development. As an Assistant Principal at a high school in Bladen County, I work every day to foster a culture of equity, respect, and shared responsibility. This experience has taught me the importance of listening, collaboration, and finding solutions that serve the whole community.
My top priorities are providing a clear and positive sense of direction for the Town, keeping taxes low through responsible budgeting, and ensuring that Leland remains a safe place to live and work. I believe residents deserve transparent leadership that plans thoughtfully for the future while protecting what makes our community special. By focusing on fiscal responsibility, public safety, and long-term vision, we can strengthen trust in local government and build a Leland that continues to thrive.
I believe we need to encourage more citizens to take an active role in civic leadership. First, I would like to establish a Leadership Leland program to help residents learn more about our town, the region, and the issues shaping our future. Second, I want to highlight and recognize the good work our citizens are doing by featuring them at Council meetings. Finally, I would like to see the Town develop Exploring programs in Police, Fire, and Municipal Management to inspire and engage our youth in public service.
My approach to leadership follows four stages: Listen, Learn, Help, and Lead. I believe effective leadership begins by listening to others and understanding their perspectives. From there, I seek to learn about the issues, challenges, and opportunities before us. I strive to help by working collaboratively to find solutions, and only then do I lead—guided by what I’ve heard, learned, and shared with the community.

I have spent nearly four years on the Town Council, gaining the experience and learning the most pressing issues we face. I’ve been involved in politics for most of my life, beginning in Junior High when I protested a bill that was set to lower the standards for “Dolphin Safe” tuna. During my time on council, I secured a seat on the Legislative Policy Committee for the state’s largest municipal rights organization to ensure that Leland has strong advocacy in Raleigh. In my career, I work to oversee contract negotiations at a global level for many highly complex medications and therapies. This negotiation experience makes me uniquely qualified to help Leland navigate the pressing issues of the day.
Growth is always the top issue and proactively managing the needs that it brings is absolutely critical in ensuring we have a safe, smart, and sustainable future.
Infrastructure is absolutely critical. We must continue to work with the WMPO/NCDOT to ensure the DOT roads are improved and expanded. Road connectivity reduces traffic on the roads Leland doesn't control like 133 and 17, so we must continue to prioritize that. We must maintain our current roads as well, which is why I championed our new road program during my first term, where 5% of Leland roads are resurfaced annually.
Public Safety needs to remain a top priority. We have made great improvements in our Police and Fire over the past four years and must continue that great work
My priority issues regarding growth in my next term are stopping or reducing burning from land clearing, improving our stormwater management and flood protection ordinances, and continuing to proactively address our Public Safety and Infrastructure needs through prudent investment and careful planning.
We must ensure we stay ahead of the growth that comes. If a community falls behind, it is nearly impossible to catch up.
It has been an honor to serve as your Councilman for the past four years.
I am very proud of the work I've done so far. Since 2021 my goal has been and will remain to ensure that Leland has a safe, smart, and sustainable future. We achieve this by proactively building and maintaining infrastructure, ensuring we have high quality and well-staffed public safety, and working to conserve what we can while updating our development rules. We’ve had much success in the past four years. Our Fire Department was upgraded to class 2, top 8% in the state. We added a police power shift to double our police presence and have instated a road resurfacing program where 5% of Leland roads are repaved annually.
We have also conserved around 1,000 acres, created a strong buffer ordinance to preserve trees, and updated our zoning ordinances to create a stronger, more desirable community. I hope to continue this work for you over the next four years, as there is much left to be done!
Position/philosophy statement
My philosophy is simple: good government listens first, plans responsibly, and puts the community before special interests. Growth should strengthen, not strain, our town — and that transparency, fiscal responsibility, and collaboration are key.

While not having held a political office, I bring over 30 years of proven business leadership. Throughout my career I’ve managed large budgets, led diverse teams, and overseen complex projects from start to finish. My focus has always been on accountability, efficiency, and delivering results. These are qualities I believe are essential for effective public service. I know how to make tough decisions, find practical solutions and ensure resources are used wisely. I have the skills and real-world experience needed to serve our community with integrity, transparency and strong financial responsibility. I see the challenges our town faces and I’m committed to fighting for common sense strategies that address them.
Commercial growth- Growth must be managed responsibly so it doesn’t overwhelm our infrastructure. I support policies that tie development to the capacity of our roads, utilities, and services, ensuring they’re in place before new permits are issued.
With Leland‘s rapid growth, traffic safety must be a top priority. I support stronger coordination with NCDOT to improve traffic flow on US 17 and around the shopping centers by adding crosswalks and sidewalks in high traffic areas as well as a safe way for pedestrians to cross 17
Protecting our environment must also be a priority. Developers should be required to preserve more trees and green space while using alternative methods to debris burning, which harms air quality and public health.
Leland’s rapid residential growth has outpaced our infrastructure, straining roads, schools, and services. I will push to ensure new development is tied to capacity, with developers contributing fairly and using alternatives to clear-cutting and burning that harm air quality. Preserving green space and adding diverse, affordable housing will keep Leland livable. At the same time, commercial growth must catch up so residents have more jobs, shopping, and services close to home, easing traffic and broadening our tax base. None of this can be done alone — I will work collaboratively with fellow council members and the community to achieve balanced growth while protecting Leland’s character and quality of life.
When I am elected to Leland Town Council, I will focus on the issues that matter most: managing growth responsibly, improving infrastructure and safety, protecting our air quality, ensuring fiscal responsibility, and increasing transparency. Growth must be tied to infrastructure capacity, with developers contributing fairly and using alternatives to clear-cutting and burning, which harm air quality and public health. Safer roads are critical, and I will push for sidewalks, crosswalks, traffic-calming measures, and stronger partnerships with NCDOT to address congestion and pedestrian safety. With over 30 years of business and budgeting experience, I will carefully review spending, oppose unnecessary tax increases, and ensure every dollar is used wisely. Just as important, I will listen to residents, provide clear answers, and make council decisions more transparent. By planning responsibly and putting residents first, we can keep Leland a safe, vibrant, and welcoming place to live, work

My ability to communicate and reason with people is one of my greatest strengths. As a proud U.S. Navy Veteran and recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, I’ve learned the value of discipline, integrity, and teamwork. I know how to work effectively with others and find common ground, even when opinions differ.
I don’t believe in pushing a personal agenda—I believe in serving the people. If elected, I will never forget who put me in this position or why. The community deserves a voice, and I intend to be that voice—listening, representing, and standing up for the people every step of the way.
My top priorities are Responsible Growth, Traffic & Transportation, and Air Quality & Pollution.
I believe our town must take a more deliberate approach to growth. I plan to address this with the Town Council and Mayor, emphasizing the need to slow expansion until our infrastructure can adequately support it.
By allowing our infrastructure to catch up, we can ease traffic congestion, improve transportation systems, and enhance air quality. Responsible growth means planning wisely—ensuring that progress never comes at the expense of our residents’ quality of life.
As I’ve said before, my candidacy isn’t about me — it’s about the citizens of Leland. The priorities I’ve shared reflect what I see today, but if elected, my focus will always be shaped by the voices of the people I serve.
I’m a team player, guided by faith, driven by compassion, and committed to doing what’s right — even when it’s not easy. My passion has always been giving back to the community in meaningful ways.
If elected, I plan to be a bridge that rebuilds trust, between the citizens of the Town of Leland & the town government.
