1). Encourage more community involvement in contributing individual talents and abilities to Town priorities and planning; 2). Wise planning to obtain true partnerships between our residential community lifestyle while supporting appropriate commercial businesses to enhance our overall comfort; and 3). Enhancements to existing recreational and public service needs for the Town's expected population growth.
I would like to attend all POA/HOA meetings of communities included in the Town. As the Town Hall only holds approximately 40 people per Town meeting, (per fire code regulations), many voices may not be currently heard at these meetings. If a Town Commissioner was on hand at HOA/POA meetings, more individual concerns could be heard and shared with the full Board of Commissioners. I would also encourage more citizens in the HOAs/POAs to go not only to the monthly meeting of the Town, but also to the monthly Planning Board and monthly Parks Board meetings.
My wife and I have been mostly vacationing in the Carolina Shores area for forty-six years. Almost three years ago, we were able to finally purchase a home in Carolina Shores. It is a great location to experience the peace, quiet, and relaxing qualities we were looking for in retirement. Carolina Shores is a small community of some 5,000 people now. We recognize that Carolina Shores will likely experience substantial growth due to the qualities I just mentioned above. We are already adding a new Walmart Supercenter and a Publix within the Town limits. The challenge will be to appropriately coordinate the current tranquility of our community with commercial amenities that will help us live even more convenient lives in the future. I would like to assist in this community coordination by serving as one of the Commissioners for the Town of Carolina Shores. As our County has one of the three nuclear reactors in the State, I am pleased to help serve the Town specifically in this area now.
