I have a Masters Degree in Leadership. The ability to make fair, informed, and transparent decisions. Strategic thinking is my strength balancing long term vision with immediate needs. My community engagement such as Novant Health Board of Trustee, Burgaw Area Chamber of Commerce Secretary, Chairperson for the Town of Burgaw Tourism, and the Beautification Committee, Youth Director and the founder of a non-profit. I have strong listening skills to understand residents needs and concerns then bring people together and build consensus. I am familiar with budgeting, financial oversight and running a business. I am willing to put community needs above personal interests. Understanding and explain how local government policies impact residents
1. Balancing growth and preserving small town character. Burgaw is experiencing pressure to build from Wilmington's growth which citizens are concerned about overdevelopment, traffic and strain on infrastructure. Fast development brings opportunity but will lose some community identity, historic charm and affordability. 2. Economic development and Job Opportunities. Attracting new businesses while supporting small local ones, keeping downtown vibrant so families will work, play and stay here. 3. Infrastructure and community service. Roads, Drainage, Water/Sewer systems upgrades, Hurricane/flood resilience is a recurring challenge in Pender County and Residents want reliable services without tax increases.
I would support smart growth, strengthen zoning and planning to prevent overcrowding. Protect the green spaces left, historic landmarks and involve residents early in growth decisions so their voices guide development. I would partner with local businesses to help them expand and thrive. Encourage new businesses that create jobs but also align with community values. I would revitalize downtown through BACC, events, incentives and promotions. Supporting workforce development and training for young people. Pushing for growth that strengthens local economy keeping Burgaw alive for locals and tourism.
I will strive to balance growth with preserving the unique character of our community, fostering opportunities that enhance quality of life while protecting the traditions and values that make Burgaw special.
