I bring a proven record of service, leadership, and results. As a sitting Alderman, I have worked to ensure fair and equitable enforcement of ordinances, safeguard the historic charm that makes Southport special, and manage growth responsibly. My experience as a business owner and real estate broker has equipped me with financial management skills and a practical understanding of how policy impacts both residents and businesses. I value respectful dialogue, listen to all voices, and seek common ground. My commitment is to protect Southport’s character while planning intelligently for its future.
1. Rebuilding trust and respect among the board of aldermen, city staff, volunteers, and residents. The division that has existed must end so we can move forward together.
2. Fiscal responsibility—ensuring Southport lives within its means while investing wisely in its future.
3. Strong management—developing fair, reasonable policy, supporting and empowering staff, encouraging volunteers, and leading through a positive, constructive approach that builds up rather than tears down.
I will address division by fostering open, respectful communication and leading with fairness. That means listening to every voice—residents, staff, volunteers, and fellow aldermen—and ensuring decisions are transparent and consistent. I will encourage collaboration rather than conflict, create opportunities for constructive dialogue, and set a tone that values respect over rivalry. By modeling civility and fairness, I believe we can rebuild the trust necessary for Southport to thrive.
I’m deeply rooted in Southport (SPT) as a father, business owner, and public servant who has spent years listening, learning, and working alongside neighbors to protect what makes SPT so special. SPT’s charm, character, and sense of community are not accidents—they are the result of generations of people who cared to preserve them. I’m committed to ensuring that legacy continues into the future. If reelected, I will focus on governing with fairness, respect, and transparency. I’ll continue to push for financial responsibility—spending wisely, prioritizing essentials, and reducing burdens on residents whenever possible. I’ll work to strengthen city staff and empower volunteers who give so much of their time and talent. I’ll encourage policies that protect SPT’s character while preparing us for the challenges ahead. I will lead with a positive, forward-thinking approach that builds bridges, values every resident, and ensures Southport remains as recognizable tomorrow as it was yesterday.

I have nearly 34 years of experience in the public sector as a police officer in a major metropolitan county. I retired at the rank of Assistant Chief in a department of over 700 sworn officers. My final assignment included overseeing 200+ employees, and some of my responsibilities included organizational decision making, budgets, HR decisions, allocation of staffing, managing critical incidents and interacting with political and public leadership. My career gave me experience in critical thinking, organizational change, political issues, budgets and personnel matters. I have a lifetime of experience performing my job with integrity, impartiality and always looking out for the best interests of my organization and the citizens I served.
Supporting the City Manager and modernizing the city government.
Fiscal responsibility and good stewardship of the taxpayers' money.
Public property infrastructure and stormwater management.
The City of Southport has a City Manager/Board of Alderman form of government and because of that I feel that it is incumbent upon the BoA and the Mayor to allow the City Manager to manage the city. I would encourage my fellow Aldermen to filter all city management questions or requests through the Mayor and/or City Manager and not go directly to the various department heads or, worse yet, their subordinates. I believe that all department heads should be held responsible for their respective departments and that they be given the appropriate training and guidance to help them do so. It is unfair to managers to hold them accountable when they have not been given the proper continuity, support, guidance and training to perform their jobs.
The City of Southport is a beautiful place to live; that is why my wife and I decided to make it our forever home. The city offers much in the way of charm, history, arts, and a sense of community. None of these attributes will change if the city government is operated in a proper and professional manner; however, much could change if it is not. The days of cronyism, nepotism and favoritism must come to an end if the city is to survive and thrive into the future. Modernization of operations will not lead to the degradation of any of the aforementioned attributes. I am thrilled to see young families living in and moving to this city and it is incumbent upon us to make sure that we leave it in good order for them when it is our time to move on. I would like to add that I have no hidden agendas and that I am not personally beholden to anyone except, you, the taxpayer and resident of this beautiful city.
