I have four years of service as an active Indian Beach City Commissioner; I regularly speak with residents and visitors about the Town. My background includes time as a City Attorney for a small town before serving as a District Judge dealing with everyday issues of community living. My grasp of technical zoning matters is enhanced by a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. My former Q security Clearance at a summer job in college at K-25 Union Carbide's Gaseous Diffusion Division in Oakridge, Tennessee was confirmed through a background check conducted by the FBI. As a Lawyer and a Judge, my record of professional responsibility and ethics is clean---When I speak, I say what I think; when I act, I stand by my actions!
(1) Keeping Indian Beach City Tax Rates Low or Lowering tax rates---considering the recent property valuation increases for tax revenue---while maintaining: Public Safety, Emergency and other City Services, Storm debris cleanup, and City access to beaches, as well as satisfying debts and necessary capital reserves, etc.---all in the best interests of citizens, visitors, and businesses in our community of Indian Beach,
(2) Keeping City Beaches clean and safe, contributing a fair share for beach re-nourishment costs, and emphasizing wildlife sanctuary for sea turtles.
(3) Keeping high standards for Public Safety and Ordinance compliance in protecting Indian Beach residents, homeowners, visitors, and businesses.
Scrutinize the City Tax Rate and the Annual City Budget set by the Commissioners---Considering current Revenue income and the reasonable cost of Public Safety, Emergency and critical City Services, City Beach patrols, Storm cleanup, beach re-nourishment, beach access, etc.---all in the best interests of citizens, visitors, and businesses in our community of Indian Beach.
Issue (4) Monitor Carteret County's contribution toward Indian Beach Fire and Police Protection for the historic community of Salter Path to assure that the County makes a fair contribution to cover the City's cost in the continuing that protection outside the city limits---in compliance with the Indian Beach City Charter and the Laws of the State of North Carolina.
