I believe it is important to give back after having had wonderful opportunities and successes in life. Having the opportunity to serve my community is a wonderful way to assist friends and neighbors who call this lovely place home. I have spent a lifetime leading people and managing processes to provide solid, positive results. This experience will assist Cape Carteret as it wrestles with future challenges.
1. Keep Cape Carteret family-friendly, quiet, and safe.

2. Preserve our town’s coastal character by protecting the rivers and estuaries which make it such a special place! We should work to safeguard the natural beaty for future generations! Protect the coastal environment from reckless development to ensure “improvements” are really improvements.

3. Keep taxes predictable and low!

Listen to residents and prioritize projects based on their benefit to Cape Carteret. Improvements which increase quality of life and public safety must come before other considerations. Cape Carteret is currently surrounded by development and Western Carteret isa the fastest growing section of the county. We must be careful to limit growth to projects which actually improve life in the town. Over building, excessive regulations, and growth for growth's sake do not improve life for residents. The charm of this town is what we have AND what we do NOT have. I will seek to maintain a balance of growth while preserving the family-friendly atmosphere and keeping Cape Carteret quiet and safe!
My wife and I have been long-term residents of the Crystal Coast, having owned property on Emerald Isle, continuously since 1994. Active-duty service in the Marines and moving every three years precluded much community involvement. Additionally, being a security officer for the U.S. Department of State kept us on the move, focused overseas, and professionally oriented. However, since moving to Cape Carteret in 2020 and retiring in late 2021, I have been involved with the local VFW (Post 9960), Cape Carteret Community Watch Program, the Maritime Museum/Watercraft Center in Beaufort, and most recently the Broad Street Clinic in Morehead City. I have also helped with planning the Crystal Coast Veteran’s Day Parade in Morehead City.

I appreciate the opportunity provided by the League of Woman Voters to post the above comments and your interest in reading them. I hope to have your support in the upcoming election!
