What are the top 3 key issues or challenges you believe the city is facing, and what steps will you take to address them if elected?
How do you plan to address affordable housing and homelessness in our city?
1. Getting back our bond rating by continuing to clean up and balance our financial books. I feel that progress has been made, but much more needs to be done.
2.There is a problem still with blighted housing. Progress has been made, but through CBDG and other grant programs. We continue to need public and private cooperation. We also need enforcement of zoning codes.
3. Streets and sewers. There is always work being done, but we need to do more. Our sewers are out of date and in need of change.
1. We need to support the private sector and government agencies who are trying to bring low cost, clean desirable starter housing for low to middle income people of this city. Once again, the use of CDBG and other grants, help, but we must make it easier for private developers to bring this about. Marion needs another development like Fair Park which enable a previous generation of young couple to build a life.
