Port of Coquille River Commissioner Position 5
Special districts in Oregon are formed to provide specific local government needs. They are created by a vote of the people in the local area being served. Examples include people’s utility districts, library districts, water districts, fire protection districts, and more. They are governed by a board of directors, which is responsible for management and financial accountability. Special districts are empowered to levy any necessary taxes and fees to fulfill their mandate. Board members are not paid but may receive a per diem reimbursement.Port District boards manage the infrastructure of local ports and their development for recreational, economic, and environmental purposes.Qualifications: Candidate must be a registered voter in the district. Your Experience/Qualifications
I own and operate multiple businesses in Myrtle Point and Coquille. My education includes a BS in science, and a double degree in management and finance. I have raised 4 boys in this area. Three of them have went through university, and one is currently in a community college. During covid shutdowns, I started and ran a homeschool co-op with 17 students. This program helped keep a group of local students focused on school within a tough curriculum program.

I have creative ideas for marketing and problem solving, also the educational ability to review budgets. As a land owner, I'm experienced in dealing with construction, equipment operation, managing real estate, and a knowledge of how water ways affect the land.
I would review all revenue streams that are accessible to the Port to see if there are ways to improve on what's available. I would like to look in to bringing a fish-cleaning station to the port in Myrtle Point. I would like to make a current aerial-map of erosion for historical purposes, and to use it to address pertinent issues at hand.
I would like to prioritize commercial/industrial use by adding more available incubator development opportunities. This would assist in new growth possibilities to help sustain the Port. Also, generating funds to help mitigate erosion on the banks, to keep commercial use available. To help recreational use, I would like to keep perpetuating the removal of Bass, and keep areas clean and safe for families to enjoy.
