Examples include people’s utility districts, library districts, water districts, fire protection districts, and more. They are governed by a board of directors, which is responsible for management and financial accountability. Special districts are empowered to levy any necessary taxes and fees to fulfill their mandate. Board members are not paid but may receive a per diem reimbursement.Port District boards manage the infrastructure of local ports and their development for recreational, economic, and environmental purposes.Qualifications: Candidate must be a registered voter in the district. I am familiar with the POTB budget and budget process. I am familiar with the issues the POTB is dealing with because I have attended nearly every board meeting in the past 3 years. My engineering skills of technical knowledge and attention to detail help me review information and provide insight. My experience in the manufacturing industry provides relevant perspective in the primary mission of the POTB in industrial and economic development.
Developing a plan for Hanger B is the big public issue that needs done. The current staff and board are progressing on initiating the process to create that plan. One of the considerations is to keep things moving forward each month without changing direction more than needed.
Overall keeping the public informed on the activities of the POTB can be increased because the POTB is much more than an air museum.
The port's mission is focused on industrial and commercial activities. Those functions need to be higher priority over recreation. Fiscal responsibility is key to maintaining operations. Sustainable economic development for Tillamook County is the first priority.

I have experience owning and operating successful businesses in Tillamook County over the past 40 years. I am good at implementing unique solutions to complex problems. Through my contacts with current board members and the Port's Executive Director, I am aware of the challenges facing POTB. In my lifetime I have watched business prosper and fail at the port and have a good idea of what works for Tillamook.
My priorities include developing a plan for the POTB railroad right-of-way, securing a future for Hangar B, ensuring current businesses at the port prosper and recruiting new business/industry to Tillamook County. I feel strongly that Port of Tillamook Bay resources should be used in such a way to best serve the county's economic and recreation needs.
We need a strong industrial base and vibrant commercial enterprises. However, to attract the quality of workers we need to fill those jobs, the area must be livable, including adequate housing and recreation opportunities.
