Mesa County Valley School Dist 51 - Ballot Issues 4A and 4B - Bond / Mill Levy

For fiscal impact information provided by the Mesa County TABOR Notice, click HERE.Ballot Issue 4A - Without imposing new taxes, the proposed bond seeks to provide Mesa County Valley School District 51 with $190 million in capital funding. This bond replaces existing bond debt that will be fully repaid on December 1, 2024. The funds will address priority facility and maintenance needs identified in D51’s 25-year long-range facilities master plan including: Renovate Central and Fruita Monument High SchoolsUpgrade safety and security across the district Address deferred maintenance across the district such as ADA upgrades and fire sprinklers Upgrade instructional technology and furniture in schools across the district Renovate classrooms to meet the needs of Special Education across the district.Ballot Issue 4B - Mill Levy Override (MLO) - Without imposing any new taxes, the proposed extension of an expiring Mill Levy Override (MLO) allows Mesa County Valley School District 51 to maintain funding of up to $6.5 million annually. This MLO, initially approved in 2017, will allow D51 to keep what it has and continue to support: Additional student instructional days, Updated instructional materials and educator training, Priority maintenance to extend the life of buildings and Additional technology support positions for schools.
