It is crucial to have a vision for the future, and as District Attorney, I had the foresight to digitize criminal files saving Brazos County Taxpayer funds. We also created a Crimes Against Women Unit, specially trained to prosecute domestic violence which has increased DV prosecution by 500%. In the future, I will guide the office through change and population growth by:
1. Increasing prosecutors and other staff to combat the growth of crime in our community.
2. Working with local law enforcement to develop a specialty position that focuses on white collar crime investigations.
3. Develop internet technology experts in my office to aid investigating criminals using digital means to commit crime such as child pornography and trafficking.
Protecting children has been, and will always be, my first priority as Brazos County District Attorney. Over the past few years, I have invested in Child Protective Services to make sure that we have adequate resources to protect children from abuse and neglect. In 2021, I added a second Child Protective Services prosecutor. This additional position added more focused attention by cutting the workload for CPS prosecutors in half, helping them to spend more time finding a suitable placement for abused children. In 2022, I added an investigator who possesses an extensive background in CPS, human trafficking, and child abuse investigations. These additions ensure that we protect children both now and in the future.
