What education, training and experience qualify you for this position?

What do you see as the top priorities for the City of Kyle, and what would you do to address them?

As a candidate for the Kyle City Council, what are your recommendations to address the shortage of the city’s water supply and its impact on current residents and future development?

I've been a resident of the city of Kyle for about a decade, and in that time have been an active volunteer in several programs that benefit our most vulnerable citizens. I've attended city council meetings regularly for several years to stay knowledgeable on what is happening and how we are growing. Over twenty years of experience in finance and risk management give me a unique perspective on spending. By having established working relationships with leaders at state, county, and city levels; I have positioned myself to be a positive, beneficial influence for our beloved city. I look forward to using all my resources to make Kyle amazing!
Responsible growth and water sustainability are top issues. Managing our growth and infrastructure has to be a paramount importance. Matching impact fees with actual impact costs will go a long way to bringing our infrastructure development to meeting our current and future needs. This will shift a significant level of the burden onto the developers creating the issue, and off of our already struggling citizens. Water sustainability has been a growing issue in recent years. People live in fear of running out of water. The city has to protect our resources by not only tapping into fresh sources, but also learning to recycle what we have.
The ARWA water line, scheduled now to be completed late 2025, will allow access to water resources exceeding our current demand, but we must think long term. Our most arid municipalities recycle up to 90% of their water. I'm hoping by accessing funds in the Texas Water Fund, established with Prop 6 in last year's election, will provide the necessary capital to establish a recycle facility that can service our water needs for generations to come.
I have a background in business management as a Chief Operations Manager of a Dental Office. As COO I maintain experience in leadership roles and training programs that develop skills in decision-making, conflict resolution, and strategic planning. I excel in communication skills, problem-solving ability, team work and ethical judgement. I have experience in financial planning and budgeting being responsible for the money coming in and out of the office. I am committed to my community and volunteer at my local church whenever I can.
Reducing excessive spending is a priority; I would bring forward a motion to remove council credit cards to focus on using the monthly stipends for daily needs. Travel expenses would be recommended to be covered in advance by City Manager.

Bringing Unity to City Council and City Residents is a priority; I would keep council decisions and discussions transparent to build trust and unity. Hold regular town hall meetings and public forums where residents can voice their opinions, ask questions, and engage with council members. This helps bridge the gap between officials and the community.
Integrate Water Efficiency in Planning: Ensure that new developments adhere to strict water efficiency standards. Incorporate water-efficient designs and technologies into building codes and zoning regulations.

Smart Growth Policies: Promote development that aligns with sustainable water usage principles. Focus on compact, mixed-use development to minimize water demands associated with growth. Recommend and integrate recycled water systems where possible.
