Yes. Voting should be as accessible as possible. With current technology, it is possible to register people on election day and still have secure elections.
The MA legislature has led on addressing the climate emergency. Our 2050 Road Map bill is a case in point. I am particularly interested in protecting environmental justice communities. Examples of further action needed include: much better infrastructure for EV vehicles, incentives for individuals to convert to energy savings home heating and cooling systems, massive investment in public transportation, like West East rail and a more robust RTA, in order to get cars off the road. We also have to mitigate the impacts, such as providing cooling during the now frequent heat emergencies, protections against flooding and solving the problem people losing their home insurance.
The governor's housing bond bill is a great plan. We need to make investments in getting units back online, building new housing and make these investments in all parts fo the Commonwealth. I am working diligently on the vexing problem of what is termed the 30% trigger which disproportionately disincentivizes development in the lower market rated parts of the state. I am also a big supporter of the access to council bill.
I am proud to have led the years' long fight for immigrants to obtain their drivers' licenses. Currently, we need to expedite the work permitting and job finding process. The above housing crisis is adding to the migrant crisis and so addressing housing will make a difference in this area.
1. West East Rail 2. A more robust RTA, including micro transit options 3. Road infrastructure that catches up from the large backlog of unaddressed projects and does so centering climate change impacts, like how to deal with sudden and larger storms.
