The principal challenge facing the role of Clerk of Courts is ensuring the trust and faith in the Superior Court judiciary. The public and consumers may not obtain adequate communication or transparency of information to fully understand or respect the complexity of the decisions a judge may enter. It is the role of the Clerk of Courts to ensure that all cases are up-to-date and accurately reported; guarantee access to files remain open for review; and to make sure the public, consumers and attorneys have all questions answered in a timely and appropriate manner.
If elected to the office of Clerk of Courts in Franklin County, my priorities will be to continue maintaining a highly efficient and transparent office. I will make sure that the public, attorneys and the consumers, no matter their position, have equal and proper access to the Court. It remains a fundamental value of mine that everyone has the right to be heard, and I remain committed that value. I will work diligently to uphold the important responsibilities of the office.
I grew up, started my family and began my legal career as an attorney here in Franklin County. As an attorney, I proudly represented many members of my community in both criminal and civil matters. Over ten years ago, I transitioned from my role as a litigator into my current role as the First Assistant Clerk Magistrate in the Franklin Superior Court. In this position, I have developed strong relationships with the criminal and civil bar, the District Attorney's office and other agencies. As such, I understand the needs of my community; I listen and adapt to the operational needs of the Court; I pride myself in thinking outside of the "box" to develop new access points and safeguards to protect the integrity of the Superior Court.
It is an honor to have worked with Clerk Susan Emond for my career as the First Assistant Clerk Magistrate and I am proud of the work we have completed. If elected, I will continue to develop relationships within the community, and further my mission for continued transparency, clear communication and advance efficiencies within Court. I will work to make the Court a more accessible resource to my community through technological advancements and innovations.
