I'm very passionate about equal access and opportunity to achieve. The ability to access education and to excel should not be limited by being born into poverty or other factors beyond a person's control. In the wealthiest nation in the history of the world, poverty should not be the limiting factor that prevents great minds from contributing their most to our society.
A top priority would be working to protect rights currently under attack federally and by certain state elements. Many in the government believe that things like the right to privacy, the separation of church and state, and freedom of speech are rights that only protect people who think like them. I would work to make sure all rights are enjoyed equally by all citizens.
