More than 1,500 bills were filed this year in the House. Minus the budget bills, only 11 passed. My legislation, affectionately called the Squatters Bill, had many co-sponsors and protects private property. It had bipartisan support and passed the House, 145 to 1, with 3 voting present. It had radio, TV and newspaper coverage. Speaker Dean Plocher praised my legislation.
I will reintroduce a bill to prevent elderly abuse by referral agencies. The elderly can be put under contract for just filling out a simple form concerning nursing homes and assisted living facilities without signing their name. This bill received unanimous bipartisan approval this year in committee but did not get through the Senate before the session concluded.
