Why are you running for Congress/Senate?

What would be your top priority for Congressional action in 2025? Briefly discuss how you would address this priority.

Age 84
Highest post-secondary educ Ph.D., Southern Illinois University, psychology
Occupation College professor, retired
Both major parties are quite similar. I am running with the Green Party to offer a needed alternative.
Many issues need to be addressed but solutions will take more than one year. One thing I could do quickly is to call for a serious rethinking of the income tax. Changes needed include greatly simplifying it, eliminating most exemptions and loopholes, treating all forms of income the same and placing Social Security and Medicare taxes on capital gains and dividends.
Age 41
Highest post-secondary educ B.S., University of Illinois-Springfield, chemistry
Occupation Technology specialist
I am qualified to run for Congress because of my experience working in water infrastructure, manufacturing and agriculture. As a chemist, I am trained to solve complex problems using data, diplomacy and common sense. I aim to bring Missourians together and fight for federal dollars to bring high-wage jobs to rebuild infrastructure here at home.
My top priority will be to expand infrastructure from roads and bridges to water and broadband internet. Remediation to clean up lead and PFA contamination in our water involves working with federal agencies, local utilities and union stakeholders. I believe that the government should never have the power to make private health decisions for women and families.

Highest post-secondary educ M.D., Washington University

I am running for Congress because our nation is in a state of crisis caused by misguided federal politicians - a crisis of open borders, overspending and inflationary policies, socialistic overregulation, a war on affordable energy and inept foreign policy.
Secure the border. Reinstate Trump-era policies including "remain-in-Mexico." Complete the border wall. Detain and deport those in the U.S. illegally.
Age 35
Highest post-secondary educ B.S., Columbia College, business administration
I have been following politics since 2010 at the time of the Tea Party and Obamacare. I want to give the people of Missouri's 3rd District an option that believes in and will vote on minimal government.
To end deficit spending and begin to reduce the national debt, which currently stands at $35 trillion. I will not vote for any spending bills that are not balanced at the minimum and push for reduction of government at every opportunity.
