Growing up I was involved in my community through Boy Scouts and then service to my country through the Marine Corps. I knew I wanted to continue my service and governance of some sort was logical. The past decade I have watched our state devolve into an unsustainable and unhuman mess. After the Covenant shooting I decided enough was enough and that if I didn't at least try to run that things would never get better.
There are a lot of issues facing Tennesseans today, but in my mind, I think education, financial relief for working families, healthcare expansion, reproductive healthcare, and sensible gun legislation are our top issues.
If elected, I would introduce legislation to re-establish gun carry permitting system for all handguns as well as certain long guns. I would like to institute a waiting period for purchase of guns, and raise the age of buying an AR style weapon to 21 years.
