I am running for another term on the Johnson City School Board because I believe in public education. I would like to continue the service that I began on the board 4 years ago. My desire is that my own child completes her public education in Johnson City schools.
I think the goal of a school system is to provide a good and fair education in a safe environment. With enough money and the right people, this goal is possible. Our biggest challenge in meeting our goals will continue to be funding. We want to continue to have a healthy relationship with our city government.
I want Johnson City schools to continue to provide a good and fair education in a safe environment. I am personally invested to meet this goal because my daughter is in this school system.

As a mother of four graduates and one current Johnson City school’s student and a former educator, I am passionate about the value of quality education to our citizens and our community. After one term, I am even more motivated by a desire to serve our community, provide level-headed leadership, and help Johnson City schools continue to expand its mission to enable all students to achieve excellence.
To continue the excellent quality of Johnson City schools, the school administration and board must keep working together to advocate for adequate state funding, keep strategically making and executing long-range plans to meet infrastructure needs, and keep diligently implementing interventions to close learning gaps.
Quality education is a key building block of our community both socially and economically. We must have students who are college and career ready, but also who are equipped to be future leaders and builders of our community. This is essential to help Johnson City continue to flourish. I love serving the students and the families of our community and helping ensure that all students have opportunities to learn, grow, and flourish.

The Johnson City School system does great work today, and I want great public educational experiences and opportunities to continue for our future generations! Extremism. Public education is becoming more controversial every day. Solutions are proposed from all directions. Some are solutions to problems Johnson City Schools don’t have. Others are extreme solutions that would hurt our schools and children. Our schools need to be compassionate places of learning. Strong board leadership that allows teachers to teach while avoiding extreme viewpoints in our schools is needed. The Board's biggest challenge is to set the right policy for the schools that keep it focused on educating, while also safeguarding against advancing extremism within our schools.
All children deserve access to a free, quality education, and the extra-curricular activities that come with public schools too. Our local schools deliver on that commitment. I am motivated to see that commitment continue and even improve on it in the future. Helping young people find knowledge is one of the most important tasks for a community. Helping children learn healthy social and coping skills, especially in the era of social media is also vital. An effective community requires service from those who are willing and able to help the community succeed in raising its future generations. I am willing to serve to help our community in this. Thank you for your consideration and your vote!
