What do you see as the greatest challenges facing Maine right now?

How will you encourage greater civic engagement among your constituents?

What will you do to address the need for affordable housing?

Is there anything else you'd like voters to know about you?

Protecting our environment should be every Mainer’s top priority. South Portland has already been hard hit by climate change, with storms last winter causing tremendous damage to our coastline. We need to take major steps now to lessen our dependence on fossil fuels.

We made major progress on gun safety this year with 72-hour waiting periods and expanded background checks. I would support a ban on assault weapons and an extreme-risk protection “Red Flag” law. We should also continue our support of community mental health services and provide aid to families who are victims of gun violence.

Economic inequality is a large problem with regressive property taxes and a lack of affordable housing making the problem worse.
Write and call your national, state and local elected representatives and visit them at City Hall, the State House and Washington, D.C. Have as many face-to-face conversations with them as possible and get to know them on a personal level. It will make you more effective as a citizen lobbyist.
I voted to support rent relief for low income households and greater transparency in the fees that landlords can charge new tenants. I’ll continue to support the creation of a variety of housing options for low to medium income earners and those on fixed incomes.
Although Mainers have benefited from recent laws protecting their right to make their own reproductive health choices, that right will remain under attack. We must continue to stand up to extremists who threaten to undermine our freedoms and safeguard the most vulnerable people in our communities. As a former labor organizer, I will always have a sharp focus on protecting working class and middle class families and protecting their right to organze.
Affordable Housing and High Energy Costs
Concentrate on making all reasonable building space be allotted to housing that people can afford with out holding down three jobs. Have City and State buy only American Oil and Gas
Be realistic when building homes. Model after the Habitat for Humanity viewpoint. People need to put some sweat equity into their house and then it will become a home.
I come from middle class hardworking people. My father was a carpenter and I have worked at some form or other since I was 12 years old. Worked all thru high school and joined the US Navy at 19. Best thing I ever did next to marrying my wife of 56 years. This country needs to get back to it's roots. More Businessmen and women and less Lawyers and Trust Fund Babies. Smaller Government and more Local control. Less unions and more good old fashion PTA.
