Because I love this community and this School District. I have raised my family in our schools. Serving on the board this past year has allowed me to witness unique challenges in our communities and the reselience of the families and the learners in this district. I would be honored to serve this distict again.
1.Supporting at risk students. Connect with the district liason and faculty to see what the barriers are. 2. Connecting them to community resources and support. By building community colaborations in order to benefit the learners and their families. 3.Academic Success oportunities for all through building pathways with learners and admin.
I currently am employeed at the YCC Family Crisis Center and I work specifically with families in the middle of our district. I have many community collaborations and resources and have met with our District Advocates and Community Liason on behalf of what we can do to support these students and their families. I also currently serve on the student achievemenmt committee on the board so if reelected I would continue this role.
Our educators, librarians, district members, parents in our community should take a collaborative approach while utilizing the blessing of having access to devoted librarians and libraries. Ensuring our students access to books allows them to exprience diverse perspectives, history and invaluable information. Through a collaborative approach, I believe we can continue to foster an environment where families are heard and perspective is valued.
Our district, like many districts in the state, particurlarly with the population that OSD serves have concerns regarding proficiency. Over the last year while serving in this district, I am proud to see the work that is being done to address these concerns including dedicated efforts specificly targeting these concerns and supporting these students.
I have ensured transparency as an elected board member by making myself publicly available by social media, phone, email.
