I want Mississippi's minimum wage raised to $20/hr across the board. I want our veterans get the medical care they have earned by putting on the uniform and defending our freedom and also receive the compensation they deserve. I want to see that our poor and homeless receive help to get on their feet. My "A hand up, not a hand out" program with provide temporary housing with these people able to use the address for employment purposes. They will also be provided with job training, transportation to interviews, and appropriate clothing. I want to place proper sidewalks and adequate lighting along all major roadways for safety for drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists. I want a program to convert buildings already in place or build new ones to have a pool, tutoring, arts and craft classes, vocational training, and sports facilities for our children to have a safe place to play and learn. These facilities will also have proper security to keep everyone safe.
I grew up in the projects on the south side of Chicago. I know what it is like for a family to struggle to make ends meet. I served in the United States Marine Corps so I know the struggles that our men and women in uniform face every day. I have also worked with our veterans to help me receive their compensation and healthcare benefits. I had bladder cancer from Camp LeJeune. My oldest daughter died from breast cancer due to the contaminated water from Camp LeJeune, my middle daughter currently has kidney cancer, and the youngest has cancer throughout her body because of Camp LeJeune. I am in remission now. After I left the Marine Corps, I worked several different odd jobs to provide for my family. So I understand what our working class families go through. My mother helped me get hired at Chicago Transit Authority where I worked in several different positions. I know what it is like to work long hours and be away from home.
I would work diligently to see Medicare and Medicaid expanded so that all of our citizens can receive the healthcare they deserve. I would work also to keep our rural hospitals open to support our local communities and ease the strain on the emergency rooms in larger cities. The people of our state should not have to choose between taking their child to the doctor and paying rent. When we take care of our next generation of citizens coming up we strengthen the future of our state. I would also like to see tax incentives given to employers who offer affordable healthcare plans to their workers with a certain percentage match plan.
I would support legislation being passed to help the immigrants being placed into a program that will help them pass the test for citizenship and help them find a job and decent housing. Everyone of us except the Native Americans are descendants of immigrants and I think that we have lost sight of that. They should be seen as people just like us who want a better life for themselves and their children. Along with this, I want to see ICE's reign of terror brought to an end. No more shootings, no more masks to hide their faces, and no more incentive programs to law enforcement agencies who support ICE agents. If they are an immigration agency, then they should stop terrorizing American citizens. Period.
I believe before we get involved with the affairs of another country, we should take care of our own. Our citizens should not be living like homeless vagrants. Also, our country should not be seizing control of other countries. Foreign policy is for us to have peaceful, mutually beneficial relationships with other countries.
Qualifications & Education I attended Jackson State University, and eventually earned my Bachelor’s degree in Social Services and Master’s of Science in Leadership from Belhaven University. My academic and professional paths have shaped my belief that leadership is not about titles—it’s about results, accountability, and the courage to act on behalf of others. I.am grounded in my Christian faith and my vision for Mississippi is rooted in practical leadership and shared progress. As the founder of the Emmett Till Justice for Families Foundation, I have worked to amplify the voices of families seeking fairness and healing in the pursuit of justice. My accountability has always been to the people, not political insiders. I also served as a Project Coordinator for Community Health Workers, created by Dr. Aaron Shirley, an AmeriCorps VISTA member, and a mentor within the Forward Lookers Federation Club, guiding others toward service and civic responsibility. My role as a preceptor for doctoral students in healthcare reflects my commitment to developing future leaders across professions.
Healthcare Access by expanding Medicaid and for those that don't qualify for the program, introduce Mississippians to the Healthcare marketplace. The Healthcare Marketplace agents will reach out to each and every Mississippian who does not qualify for Medicaid.
Create an immigration policy to ensure humane treatment and due process. I support expanding work visas, regularizing longtime undocumented residents, fair asylums adjudications and protections for vulnerable groups, while keeping families TOGETHER
I will not accept funding or resources from AIPAC. My duties are to be included in dealings of treaties and diplomacy: Advise and consent on international treaties and ambassadorial appointments
