We have a problem with homelessness, collaboration with the citizens and public safety. I will work to ensure that the citizens voice is represented and that public safety is fully funded. Our mental health and human services are so important, and I will be collaborating with them on how to best address this important issue.
I am an excellent communicator and conduit for the public good. I will work to bring balance and consensus to the Commission for the highest best outcomes.
As a Realtor I am very educated in the housing supply. We need more options, our land use laws have hindered the ability to produce more housing and the systems development charges being to high have added more burden to builders.

Homelessness: We've made great progress in reducing homelessness by 65% from 2019-2023. Our strategic plan includes re-developing existing affordable housing projects, selling off assets to fund new projects, and seeking new funding sources for additional developments.

Addiction / mental health treatment: The county's Lake Road Health Center opens summer 2024, offering a variety of outpatient counseling and treatment services for both mental health and drug and alcohol issues.

Affordable housing: Bringing more housing online is a top priority for the county. We are re-developing existing sites, selling off assets to fund new developments and seeking stable funding sources to assure long-term sustainability of new developments.
I've been a county commissioner for more than 20 years. I have excellent relationships with mayors and city councils, members of the Clackamas County legislative caucus, our chambers of commerce, partner agencies and staff. I have visited every corner of our county and appreciate all that our rural and urban areas have to offer. My background as an entomologist, a farmer, a librarian and a teacher helps me understand ecosystems, market pressures and the needs of businesses and families.

I put people before politics. I prioritize public safety and economic development. I work with whomever I'm elected for the betterment of the county. My motto is, "Not left, not right, but forward."
Clackamas County plays a significant role in addressing the supply of housing in our region -- from transitional housing to affordable homes for working families. With $160 million in regional bond money, we have purchased land for affordable home construction. We're currently selecting developers and owners for new housing construction.

We've also added existing homes to our affordable housing portfolio and funded a Housing Liaison to manage these projects efficiently and successfully.

As a past president of the Association of Oregon Counties and Chair of the Economic and Workforce Development Committee of the National Assoc. of Counties, I seek out programs and funding sources for affordable housing.
