As the next Oregon State House Representative from Corvallis, my legislative priorities for the 2025 session are deeply connected to the urgent needs of our community and the state, focusing on making housing more affordable and addressing our homelessness crisis.

Affordable and Workforce Housing

Housing is a fundamental human right, integral to individual well-being and community health. Yet, in Oregon, and particularly in Corvallis, we face a critical challenge with housing affordability. The Department of Land Conservation & Development has consistently ranked Corvallis as the most rent-burdened community in our state, underlining the urgency of this issue. More than 37% of households that spend more than 50 percent of income on rent.
The Legislature should address the schools budget crisis with the urgency it deserves. The state Legislature needs to revamp public education funding model to address the following needs:

1- Establish a revised Quality Education Model that fully funds the increase in cost of living and resources to improve the working conditions of school staff and teachers. 2- Address the inequities in funding for school districts experiencing declining enrolment and ensure that even when there is a declinin
Here are the top roles the state legislature can play in addressing economic inequality in Oregon:

Affordable Housing Initiatives: Address the housing affordability crisis which disproportionately affects lower-income families. Support legislation that increases housing affordability, housing development, and assistance programs that help prevent homelessness.

Healthcare Access: Ensure that each Oregonian access affordable healthcare, preventing medical debt—a significant factor in economic disparity.

Education and Training Programs: Expand access to education and vocational training programs that equip citizens with the skills needed for higher-paying jobs. This includes funding and supporting apprenticship programs and ensuring higher

As a mom and School Board member, I am fighting to create a better future for all kids. My top issues are: 1) Housing, homelessness, and mental health: I will increase housing construction so families can afford housing and expand services so people stay housed. We must fund mental health care and addiction treatment so people in crisis can get the care they need.

2) Protecting rights of future generations: I will fight to protect abortion access, as a scientist I take bold action to address climate change, and expand my work to reduce gun violence that threatens our schools and communities. I will fight to protect and expand the rights and interests that Corvallis values to build a safe and sustainable world for future generations.
Every student deserves a quality education. As a mom who has one child in public education and another child in college, I know the value and weaknesses of Oregon’s schools. As a school board member, I know how laws that the legislature passes affect our schools. I will increase student literacy and ensure students graduating have the skills they need to succeed. We need to fix Oregon’s broken funding model for K-12 schools so students have the education they deserve.
First, I will strengthen unions, empower workers, and support apprenticeship programs to create good-wage jobs, safe working conditions, and pathways into skilled trade careers. Second, I will ensure that the richest people in Oregon pay their fair share and I’ll use those funds to expand the support families need to work and thrive, including access to childcare, healthcare, and housing. And third, I will work to make higher education affordable for Oregonians pursuing careers that require a college education. I will create pathways into family wage jobs that include entry into skilled labor and affordable education at our community colleges and state universities and give Oregonians the support they need to succeed.
