Issue 22: Lake Local School District Levy

Additional, 9.5 Mills, current expenses, 5 years, commencing in 2024Lake Local School District is asking district voters to pass Issue 22, a 9.5 mill property tax levy, commencing in 2024 to support operating expenses. The new levy would be in effect for 5 years. The cost of the 9.5 mill levy would be $333 per $100,000 of County Auditor Appraised Value for residential properties. This levy will generate $6,108,000 per year for 5 years. Residents will not begin paying for this levy until calendar year 2025 tax bills. The cost to taxpayers will decrease over the 5 years as the taxing district adds new properties. The last operating levy was passed in 2006 for 11.1 mills and continues. When an existing 1999 27-year bond issue expires, tax bills after 2026 will be reduced by about $98 per $100,000 Appraised Value. This is the third levy request in two years. Following the defeat in May 2023, 13 staff positions were reduced for 2023-2024, as well as an increase to athletic activity fees and additional fees for certain clubs and after school activities.
