Licking County's population is expected to grow rapidly. With that growth will come increased demand for services. Thinking ahead and preparing for those increased demands will be the biggest challenge for my office as well as the rest of the municipal and county governments. Additionally, employee retention must also be prioritized. It is important to keep the experienced staff that can help meet the needs of our community.
I have lived and raised my family in Licking County over the last twenty four years. I know this community. For many years I worked as an assistant prosecutor in the felony and the juvenile divisions. I understand how the office operates from every division. I led the office as first assistant prosecutor beginning in 2018 until my appointment to the office in late 2022. Since that time I have increased staffing to better handle the increase of felony cases and civil issues in order to better serve our community. I am a proactive leader. I lead from the front and will continue to do so.
One of my first goals upon being appointed to this position in 2022 was to get fully staffed. There were several assistant prosecutor positions that were not filled. I now have a full staff and they are doing a great job. At this point I still have several goals for the office to better serve Licking County. The main improvement I want to make for Licking County is to assist with educating and empowering our citizens, especially our most vulnerable, the children and the elderly. Continuing to fight for victim's rights, prosecuting violent offenders to the fullest extent of the law and advocating for tough sentences to help keep our community safe, even as our population grows.
