I was appointed to a vacancy in this precinct in 2019 and re-elected in 2020. I communicate with my constituents before every election, ensuring they know what's on the ballot and the various ways to cast a ballot. I use digital tools to identify Democratic-leaning constituents who aren't registered Democrats. I track my constituents' absentee ballot applications, and contact them in case of problems, to ensure their ballots are counted. I also volunteer countywide to inform voters about our Democratic candidates and issues, gather signatures for endorsed ballot initiatives, and get out the vote.
Combating the climate crisis and pursuing environmental justice. Even in Ohio, where our climate is protected as well as anywhere on earth, we're seeing climate-induced disruptions to agriculture and infrastructure (late plantings, flooded bridges, etc), which will only get worse unless we take immediate action. As companies move into Licking County to extract our water resources, we must protect clean water for ourselves as well as for agriculture. We must also ensure that the transition to a clean economy leaves no one behind. Our part of Ohio has suffered from extractive industry for over a century, leaving less and less for the people who remain. With appropriate investments, we have the chance to create a vibrant and clean economy.
Staying informed about local as well as regional and global environmental issues, informing my constituents about candidates and ballot questions, participating in county Democratic Party actions as well as serving as Vice-President of the Licking County Democratic Club. Using these platforms to promulgate information about our candidates' and Party's stances on issues.
