Commissioners have statutory authority to provide water and sewer services, solid waste disposal, hold hearings on annexations, and are responsible for public assistance work and workforce development.Commissioners’ Weekly Sessions normally are on Wednesdays at 9 a.m. However, conflicts in schedules sometimes necessitate the meeting being changed from this time, so please call ahead to confirm. I believe our two greatest assets in Wayne County are the people and the land. We need to place our focus and efforts on promoting the health and vitality of our residents to encourage advancement at all socioeconomic levels. By prioritizing housing and industrial development in our cities and village we can discourage and limit the loss of productive farmland.
I have been fortunate in my life experiences that have brought me to where I am today. I continue to work at improving these on skills that I bring as a candidate: organizational management, building relationships, good stewardship, strong character, common sense, and investing in those around me. Since childhood I have a strong work ethic. I received my education at Northwestern Schools, the Career Center, University of Akron, Liberty University as well as additional opportunities such as through my time in the United States Marine Corps. For the last 7 years I have had the opportunity to serve as the Wayne County Fair Secretary, Treasurer and Manager.
I pledge to listen to those who bring problems and through open communication and the desire to serve, find the best possible solutions by utilizing the many resources at the local and state levels in order to make the best overall decisions.
I believe that alternative energy has a place today. I also believe it is just that, alternative energy. We have enough natural resources to not need to rely too heavily on these alternatives. For example, solar is not proven enough yet to rely on it, forcing us to give up quality farmland. I believe that during the development of these efforts they would be better suited for areas within the cities and on top of buildings where they could provide power throughout the daytime to supplement proven sources of power.
My answer to the first question addresses this area as well. We must protect what we have because once it is gone we will never get it back.

One of the biggest challenges currently is the ever increasing property taxes, many have experienced 37 plus percent increases, this has not only impacted us here in Wayne County, but all through the State. With all the other price increases with groceries, general goods as well as fuel it is becoming harder to afford to get by. Those who are retired and on Social Security are truly having a tougher time with absolute fixed incomes. I will work closely with our State Representatives and our other Commissioners to work toward a more reasonable solution. Another issue is our revolving door so to speak with Criminals we can not continue with the Catch and Release system we seemingly have. Theft from our retailers is ever increasing.
My time as an Orrville City Councilman has taught me about how legislation and financial budgets operate. We have to be responsible in what legislation and improvement/projects we pass as both could have real value and at times can even upset some of our Citizens. This balance can make decisions difficult, but this is where having the integrity to do the right thing comes in. I have learned that the financial impacts on the budget is not just for 1 year, decisions made today can reflect for years to come. As a Councilman I have learned to use forward thinking. I have also worked in retail for 10 years which has helped me grow to understand the Citizens of Wayne County. As an Assistant Manager I have learned compassion and understanding.
As your Commissioner I will have an open door policy. I will absolutely listen to every single Citizen’s thoughts and issues and work toward solutions. The 3 main Commandments I have are to have Integrity, to be Transparent and absolutely have Engagement with our Citizens. After all it isn’t about us Political Leaders it’s about You our Constituents.
My position on solar is relatively simple I absolutely do not want to see big business investors using our precious farm land to put up solar panels. If private citizens or farmers want to put in solar panels to off set energy cost I have no issues with that it is their land. However, I’m not an expert on Solar Energy, but I do know roughly 60% of the year Wayne County is cloudy which to me doesn’t sound like it would be very feasible to have large Solar Fields.
Wayne County is truly a great County to live in we have a perfect balance of Agriculture and Big Business this truly is a blessing. What I do not care for is Government abusing Eminent Domain just because it can. If a farmer wants to sell a portion of land for a project that could benefit the County or a City great, but I am not comfortable with the strong arm tactics of Eminent Domain. Wayne County leads the State in Dairy Cattle, that only continues if we can keep our Agricultural land safe.
