Common Sense Education Policy, Economic Development, Fiscal Responsibility, Lowering Taxes (across the board), and Cutting Bureaucratic Red Tape remain my primary priorities. As a constitutional conservative, I remain dedicated to protecting our freedoms, including protecting the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Preservation of those freedoms is defended by our second amendment.
Free and fair elections are the bedrock of our society! Ohio is widely recognized as having one of the best elections systems of any state, and that includes our commitment to seeking to constantly improve that election system. We must ensure every eligible citizen has the right to vote and that their vote counts and matters. We must also protect our elections from fraud. I am opposed to non-citizens being allowed to vote in our elections.
State tax policies are one of the biggest tools we have to incentivize businesses to start, stay, and grow in Ohio, as well as to attract businesses into Ohio. Not surprisingly, tax policy is also critical to attracting and supporting individuals and families. We have been able to reduce the state income tax by over 3.5% since I was first elected as state representative in 2020, I am committed to continuing the work to reduce state income tax, find sustainable solutions to the property tax inflationary crisis, and to reduce de facto taxes through excessive fees, registrations and licensing costs. Additionally I have led the charge to reduce bureaucratic red tape in occupational licensing and intend to continue those efforts.
As the current Vice-Chair of the House Education Committee and previously having served for eight years as an elected member of the Ohio State Board of Education, I am dedicated to ensuring parents have the right and responsibility to direct their children’s education and that schools remain accountable to the taxpayers and electorate. We must also ensure teachers and parents have the resources they need to help our children succeed. As a small business owner and lifelong farmer, I also believe we should encourage more practical skill development through Career Technical Training and better utilize high school college opportunities to reduce student’s college debt burdens.
Ideally the State should seek to minimize interference in local government and play a supporting role, helping where it can and stepping in during abuses of power, or when they overstep and infringe on individual rights. During my time on the House State and Local Government Committee, I sought to work with local governments to craft policies and rules that would help them do their jobs and remove red-tape and burdensome regulations.
As a wife and mother of three, I know all too well how the spiraling cost of healthcare can burden families, financially and emotionally. As a state we have committed to caring for the most vulnerable and are continuing to improve our customer service, keeping the elderly in their homes, and offering competitive wages in state paid care. We are blessed with the finest healthcare system in the world, and we need to protect that system while also ensuring the government doesn’t overreach its authority, through careful policies and regulations to protect individuals and families.
Ashtabula & Geauga Counties are blessed with incredible natural resources including Lake Erie, abundant fresh water supplies, and many conservation areas and parks. Having grown up in Agriculture and as a small business owner, I understand the importance of protecting our environment and fulfilling our God-given duty to steward these resources, to ensure quality lives for ourselves and future generations. Overbearing and punitive regulations can have a negative impact on preservation efforts while infringing on personal property rights, which also hurts families and businesses. I believe in common-sense stewardship policies that ensure every hiker, hunter, camper, and fisher can enjoy our beautiful land, now and in the future.
First and foremost to teach the Constitution, including our Bill of Rights, so that every citizen of our Great Nation knows and understands that those rights are theirs, given by their Creator, not given by the state. All of us are equal in our Creator’s eyes and those of us elected by our fellow citizens are sworn to protect their rights, without fear or favor.
